Explore The Bible Study: Assurance

12:41 PM

What happens when we come against a wall, and we realize that God is directing our path elsewhere? How do we move forward with God? LifeWay's Explore the Bible Study: Assurance helps us answer that question as we focus on Jacob's life in Genesis 35:1-15.

While the title of this session is "Assurance" a better title might be "Moving Forward with God" because this is what Jacob and his family experienced. There were certain things that took place as they moved forward with God. The outline below is the approach taken in the downloadable teaching ideas:
  • Listen to God - Genesis 35:1
  • Purify Yourself - Genesis 35:2-4
  • Obey God - Genesis 35:5-8
  • Remember God's Promises - Genesis 35:9-13
  • Celebrate God's Work - Genesis 35:14-15

When we listen to God, purify ourselves, and obey God, He will watch over us; He will guide us; He will remind us of His promises. And, when we reach our “Bethel”  we can celebrate all God has done, is doing, and will do through our lives as we continue to follow Him!

Consider reminding your group of what the author of Hebrews says about moving forward with God as you close the session:

“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every hindrance and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith. For the joy that lay before him, he endured the cross, despising the shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.” (Hebrews 12:1-2 CSB)
