New Year With A New Website

6:30 AM

Yes, I am ringing in the new year with a new website. I am glad you are at least checking out what will be offered,  and in the words of Humphrey Bogart in the movie Casablanca, I hope "this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship." For those of you who are younger, you might want to rent the movie. It is a classic!

Many of you may have read what was to be my final blog post on the 4:12 Network, but some of you may not know much about me. It might be important for you to know about my life in ministry since you are giving me the opportunity to give input into your ministry through this website.

I have been blessed with a broad range of ministry experiences in my life. I currently serve as the Discipleship Pastor, Northside Baptist Church, Murfreesboro, TN and the Executive Director of the Baptist Association of Christian Educators (BACE). Before taking these positions I served through LifeWay Christian Resources for 12 years, as an Adult Ministry Specialist, Lead Adult Ministry Specialist, and Manager of Training and Development.

Prior to going to LifeWay Christian Resources I served for 21 years on church staff at churches in Florida, Texas, Louisiana, and Alabama. I consult with churches, lead Sunday school and small group training conferences, write curriculum, and speak to churches on a wide variety of topics.

I have also been involved over the years with numerous LifeWay Christian Resources writing projects including: Beyond the Walls: Multiply Your Adult Ministry (e-book), Essentials for Excellence: Connecting Adult Sunday School to Life (e-book), and How-To Sunday School Guide: Curriculum Workshop for Adult Leaders. I continually write teaching procedures for LifeWay’s ongoing Sunday School curriculum, and I wrote the teaching procedures and study guide content for LifeWay's January Bible Study (2009 and 2013).

This website is designed to focus on you and your ministry through the local church. I won't be sharing with you from what I am think is happening in the church or culture but from what I am doing or have done - the good, bad, and ugly!  Here is how current content will be delivered.
  • Focal Point - Weekly devotional focused on teaching and leadership.
  • Church practice - Experiences and ideas for making things work.
  • Leadership - Help for developing your leadership skills.
  • Explore the Bible - Weekly teaching helps for teachers of LifeWay's Explore the Bible curriculum.
Well, at this point, this is the direction. I hope you will join me on this journey and share with me your thoughts along the way.
